UPDATE Dec 4, 2013: The results of the matching offer are in!
- The matching donation maximum of $10,000 was reached at 7:13 pm ET, December 3, 2013.
- The matching distributions will be distributed to 252 different registered charities across the country.
- CanadaHelps will inform the charities and pay out their matching awards by regular mail, in the next monthly disbursement. Charities will receive their Interac matching donation funds in the form of a cheque, accompanied by a letter informing them they are receiving the funds as part of the Interac matching program.
- Charities will receive their donations from individual donors according to CanadaHelps standard practices (either by weekly electronic fund transfer for registered CanadaHelps charities or by monthly cheque disbursement for charities not registered with CanadaHelps).
UPDATE Dec 2, 2013: Interac has just announced that they are doubling the available matching donation to $10,000!
On GivingTuesday, December 3, 2013, Acxsys Corporation (whose shareholders are the architects of the Interac network) will match online charitable donations made through GivingTuesday.ca or CanadaHelps.org and paid using Interac Online.
The organization will match up to $25 per donation made using Interac Online through GivingTuesday.ca or CanadaHelps.org on GivingTuesday, up to a maximum of $5,000 $10,000 in total matching dollars. To be eligible, donations must be made on December 3rd from 12:01am ET until 11:59pm ET, towards any registered Canadian charity.
If the total matching amount ($10,000) is not reached by 11:59pm on December 3rd, the organization will extend the donation deadline for an additional 24 hours, until December 4th 11:59 pm ET.
