Canadian Lawyers Abroad - Avocats canadiens à l’étranger

CLA is a catalyst for positive social change. We work with partner organizations in Canada and abroad on innovative rule of law, good governance and human rights projects.

We are cultivating the next generation of leaders in law. Through our Student Chapter and Internship Program, we engage students across Canada on important legal issues and provide them with meaningful work opportunities dealing with indigenous and international issues.

In 2014-15, CLA-ACE has 15 Student Chapters at Canadian law schools raising awareness about the human rights of refugees. During the summer, we send passionate and committed law student into the field to contribute to projects that range from enforcing women’s rights, prosecuting crimes against humanity, representing low income clients at legal clinics, promoting environmental sustainability, and supporting the work of Aboriginal communities.

We also support and empower First Nations, Métis and Inuit youth. Through CLA's Dare to Dream program we are providing legal education and mentorship to Aboriginal youth aged 11 to 14 in Ontario and Alberta. Dare to Dream is in operation in Ottawa, Toronto, Saskatoon, Calgary and the Siksika Nation. Watch our program video here to learn more:
