Bard on the Beach Theatre Society
Over the past 27 years, Bard on the Beach has grown up in Vanier Park, from its humble beginnings in a single, small tent to the largest Shakespeare festival in Western Canada. Bard on the Beach has grown into a world-class Shakespeare festival that actively contributes to Vancouver’s creative economy through high-quality performances that attracts nearly 100,000 patrons each summer.
Bard Education is the workshop and youth outreach arm of the Festival. Through it, we have played Shakespeare in active workshops, invited young people to discover Shakespeare through live performances, and celebrated the talent and theatrical aspirations of young people from across BC.
Teachers, families or children who face a financial barrier to participate in workshops or attend performances can turn to the Bard Education Bursary. It provides financial assistance for individuals and schools, to ensure that plays and programs are as accessible as possible for our community. On December 1, we’re turning to you to help us inspire our children and our community through the genius of William Shakespeare. Donate to the Bard Education Bursary today and you can fund programs like…
$50 – 2 performance tickets for underprivileged youth
$200 – 1 Bard in the Classroom workshop for a group of 30 BC students
$470 – A 2-week Young Shakespearean Workshop session for one participant
