Canadian Mental Health Association, BC Division

Imagine you find a note to your child hidden in their room:
“I want you to believe me when I say there is hope, love and life and it all gets better. Not too long ago I would have never believed someone who told me that. I found comfort in my hopeless world and when the darkness took over I found myself at a crossroads: end my life now OR find help and get my life back. Here I am now living in a world of light and hope."

These are my words of encouragement to another youth.
Youth like me need the coping skills to manage stresses of daily life, suicidal thoughts, feelings of depression, anxiety, self-hate and anger. You have the power to help a BC youth thrive—not just survive—in an age of rapidly advancing technology, false ideals of perfection and unrealistic expectations of success.

We need your help. On this special day of #givingtuesday please send your life-changing gift to one youth today!
Early intervention is essential for our BC youth and their mental health. Mental illness is increasingly threatening the lives of our children; suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for youth in Canada.

Please help ensure that tomorrow is a better day.
Your gift today can ensure that youth in BC have the skills and education to live life to the full and to reach out for help when they need it most. You’ll teach them that their lives and the choices they make really do matter. You can make a difference to a young person struggling to find their place in this world.

You are supporting our greatest needs:
•Early intervention in schools throughout BC with our Living Life to the Full for Youthprogram,a mental health promotion course based on principles of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).
•Bursaries to support young people living with a mental illness attend post-secondary education.

PS. Please consider leaving a note of encouragement, in the comment section of the donation form, to one youth who needs it the most. Notes will be handed out to bursary applicants and Living Life to the Full participants.
