This year we have taken the GivingTuesday one-step further by focusing on our small business and family business clients. We are calling it Most Generous Nation, and we have a vision that $36Million in charitable transactions will be done through retail philanthropy in the coming years.

In 2015 Place2Give launched TheCardThatGives. A GIVE card that is sold in stationary stores and small gift stores across Canada as well as online. In our pilot year (2 weeks leading up to Xmas) we sold over $14,000 with the face-value being redirected to over 100 charities across Canada.

This year we are adding a new feature for retail customers and organizations that have a retail component. Branded cards whereby the recipient of the card can return to the place of purchase (as indicated by the brand) for additional discounts on products and services. As stores sign on, they will be featured on our partner's sites to further promote their generous spirit as part of making Canada the Most Generous Nation.

It is a win-win-win-win model:
  • for the retailer (new sales),
  • the giver (emotional charge of giving),
  • the charity (a new donation), and
  • the redeemer (emotional charge of giving & the opportunity to get discounted product as a result)
