Weengushk Film Institute

Weengushk Film Institute (WFI) is dedicated to unlocking the creative potential of emerging artists. While developing market-leading skills and experience to its students, WFI provides significant value by creating a mentorship network between our students and industry professionals. This approach fosters skills development through arts-training and creates access points to key decision makers in all areas of film and television.

WFI's goal is to train, develop, guide and mentor young emerging artists to develop their creative skills and attain a level of professionalism that promotes self-sustainability in a competitive market.

WFI envisions the collection, preservation and representation of new creative voices in the film and television industry, encouraging the development and recognition of these diverse students to enhance the vitality of Canadian life.

WFI is an innovative and entrepreneurial response to an identified and documented absence of training opportunities for Aboriginal and youth of diversity in Northern Ontario and within Canada.

To continue to provide the best environment for our artists and students, we are working to raise money for the following goals:
  • Provide WFI students with bursaries and scholarships;
  • Capacity and Partnership building;
  • Renovate WFI Training Facility to be wheelchair accessible, energy efficient, and to accommodate our growing needs;
  • Purchase additional production and post-production equipment;
  • Purchase additional computers and software for classrooms; and
  • Build on-site residential building for students and instructors

WFI welcomes your support. Your donation or sponsorship ensures WFI students will have the tools they need to prosper in and ever-changing world.
