Local crowdfunding site wants us to “give a buck” this GivingTuesday

Greedy Giver Give a Buck

GivingTuesday, a movement that started in U.S, is making its way to Canada this holiday season. GivingTuesday (Dec 3) is a day where charities, companies and individuals join together to share commitments, rally for favourite causes and think about others.

In true Canuck form, Canadians have embraced this new initiative with open arms. GreedyGiver.com, an official GivingTuesday Partner, is handing out 1000 loonies at Yonge & Dundas Square with the simple instructions to “Use This Coin For Good”. Lucky coin receivers are then encouraged to share their “good deed” stories online via Facebook, Twitter, and Vine.

“We wanted to encourage people to do something nice for someone else” says Sabrina Nicosia of GreedyGiver.com. “And we’re hoping that the more these coins pass hands, the more good deeds will be generated for and by the great people of Toronto.”

The coins are being handed out and Yonge & Dundas Square at noon on Tuesday, Nov 26th  - exactly one week before GivingTuesday.

“GivingTuesday is a chance for everyone to get involved in giving. Even if you can only give a dollar, we make a difference when we act together. Imagine if everyone in Canada gave an extra buck this GivingTuesday!” commented Woodrow Rosenbaum of GivingTuesday. “We can’t wait to hear the giving stories inspired by these dollars.”
