Interac matching is back!

GivingTuesday Interac Online® donation matching is back!

Interac Online

UPDATE January 15, 2016: The Interac matching donations have been processed. 259 charities will receive matching funds - via weekly EFT to charities registered for EFT with CanadaHelps or via monthly cheque mailing for charities not set up for EFT with CanadaHelps.

UPDATE December 1, 2015: The Interac matching donation maximum of $10,000 was reached at 9:16pm EST.  A total of 259 charities across Canada will receive matching donations. Please see below for details on disbursement of the matching funds.

On GivingTuesday, December 1st, 2015, online charitable donations made through or (powered by and paid using Interac Online, will be matched by Acxsys Corporation (whose shareholders are the architects of the Interac network). The organization will match up to $25 per donation made using Interac Online, up to a maximum total of $10,000 in matching dollars.

Terms and conditions

To be eligible, donations must be made on December 1st 2015, from 9:00am ET until 11:59pm ET, towards any federally registered Canadian charity or non-profit organization listed on and paid using Interac Online. The matching dollars will be granted on a first come first served basis, according to the date and time the donations are received at, until the maximum of $10,000 is reached.

If the maximum matching amount of $10,000 is not reached by 11:59pm ET on December 1st, the organization will extend the donation deadline for an additional 24 hours, until December 2nd at 11:59pm ET.

For charities that have a free CanadaHelps account and electronic fund transfer (EFT) set up, the Interac matching donation will be deposited directly into their bank account as part of the standard CanadaHelps weekly disbursement process. These charities will be able to clearly identify funds received as a result of the Interac matching program in the Donations tab of their CanadaHelps charity account; the donor will be identified as Acxsys Corporation and the note to the charity will specify Interac GivingTuesday Matching Donation.

Any charities that do not have a free CanadaHelps account and have not set up EFT, will receive the Interac matching donation funds by cheque in January with an explanatory letter.

Charities will receive the donor portion of these donations using the standard disbursement processes: via weekly EFT to charities registered for EFT with CanadaHelps or via monthly cheque mailing for charities not set up for EFT with CanadaHelps.
