Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site

We are having a crowfunding campaign through This Place Matters
to raise funds for the preservation of Canada`s last wooden tipple. The Atlas Tipple is not only a unique reminder of the importance of Drumheller coal in the development of Canada, but it also serves as a monument to those who came from all over Canada and all over the world to dig coal. It was a difficult job, rife with danger. Men and boys were willing to climb that tipple, work with coal, make Drumheller home, and build a country in the process. We are aiming to preserve this iconic structure in the Drumheller Valley for future generations to enjoy. The theme of the campaign is Your... such as Your Tipple. The Atlas Coal Mine, the tipple and the stories we tell; are all your history. The week will culminate on Saturday December 5th with Christmas at Fanny's where we will celebrate the 1923 Drumheller Board of Trade Christmas party. Fanny ran one of the most popular playhouses in Drumheller and was often where business groups held celebrations. It will be a fun evening recreating Drumheller's 'naughty era', as guests get Tippled for the Tipple!
