BC Civil Liberties Association

The gains we have achieved for justice and equality can always be rolled back. They exist only because individuals fight to defend them. People across the country are coming together to stand up for what they believe is right. Because of committed supporters like you, we’ve achieved a lot this year:

üDefeated second-class citizenship

üChallenged long-term solitary confinement in court

üUpheld strong protections against warrantless search and seizure

üTook action to protect our rights at the border

üStood up against racism and discrimination

Already our 2018 calendar is filling up with new and important work, including some major litigation. But But, with just one month to go until the end of 2017, we are still $130,000 away from meeting our budget goals.

Please donate today, and with your help, we will:

- Work to address police misconduct and discrimination by RCMP and policing authorities in Indigenous communities in BC’s northern and rural areas.

- Go to trial with our court case challenging Canada’s overly restrictive legislation on medical assistance in dying.

- Fight for the introduction of anti-SLAPP legislation (strategic lawsuits against public participation) that protects individuals from lawsuits by governments or businesses with deep pockets that are intended to stifle free expression.

And that’s just the beginning.

Often, we are the most important line of defence against infringements on our rights and freedoms. We would not exist without your support.

Every donation makes an important difference, ensuring we are able to continue the Association’s vital work. We would not exist without you. Please give generously today!
