Creating Together Family Resource Centre

Creating Together Family Resource Centre is a non-profit, charitable organization that provides a warm and stimulating environment for children from 0 to 6 years old to play, learn and socialize. In operation since 1976, Creating Together has enriched the lives of thousands of families in the South Parkdale area. Creating Together offers opportunities to share parenting techniques and promote an understanding of early child development. Our programs emphasize the importance of child development, early intervention, and prevention. In 2013, Creating Together provided free services to 1,340 individuals that included 672 parents and caregivers and 668 children with 14,774 visits made throughout the year. Creating Together services include: • Workshops focusing on children’s social skills, literacy, social, mental, and physical development • Various celebrations including but not exclusive to our diverse community; Filipino, Tibetan, Sri Lankan, Chinese, Indian, French, and English. • Crafts and creative projects for children that focus on celebrations • Trips and outings to natural and purpose built locations -- which especially helps the many families who face isolation, do not have access to vehicles and who would otherwise not be able to attend • Ongoing free parent relief for parents that cannot afford or do not have access to child care • A healthy snack program • Clothing and toy lending library for families that may be newcomers to Canada, or have few resources $48,000 in new funding is needed to develop new programs, hire an additional Early Childhood Educator, replace worn and outdated educational toys, books, and equipment, to buy food for our daily nutrition programs.
