Habitat for Humanity Manitoba

2017 has been an incredible year for Habitat for Humanity in Canada. Habitat Manitoba was one of two Affiliates that hosted President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn in July when we built 150 new homes for Canada's 150th Birthday when the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project came to Canada. We welcomed over 3,000 volunteers over a 5 day period building safe, decent affordable homes.

In Manitoba, we built 25 new homes for low income families to purchase. 40% of those homeowners are Indigenous. Each family is required to commit 500 hours of sweat equity and pay an affordable mortgage. Each Family purchases their home at fair market value and pays a mortgage based on their income. The terms are no down payment, interest free for 15 years and their mortgage is 27% of their gross income. This is what makes it affordable.

Habitat provides a hand up, not a hand out. With your donation today, we can guarantee that 100% of your gift will go towards building a home. Because of our successful social enterprise, The ReStore, we are self-sufficient and don't need to take a percentage of your gift to run our organization.

1 in 7 families in Canada don't have a safe place to call home. Today, you can help change that.

Thank you for considering Habitat for Humanity as your charity to support.
