Lansdowne Children's Centre Foundation

While many of Lansdowne Children’s Centre’s programs are sustained by government funding, we rely on corporate, community and individual donations for those programs that are not funded by the province. Funds raised through the LCC Foundation support medical care, therapy research, specialized equipment purchases, recreational and respite programs, literacy programs and support groups.

One of Lansdowne Children’s Centre’s key programs that does not receive any government funding is a very successful and award winning program called Every Kid Counts.  Since 2001 generous individuals, businesses, private Foundations and community groups throughout Brant, Norfolk and Haldimand have helped sustain this much-needed program.

Through Every Kid Counts, children and youth with special needs have an equal opportunity to participate in local recreational programs of their choice - be it swimming, a summer camp program, music lessons or sports.  A child with special needs is matched with a Support Worker who then provides both hands-on and programming support to the child, family and recreation staff. This aids the child to fully participate in the provided programming.

Many of our program participants have had a great time at summer camps, playing little league, doing crafts at girl guides, making new friends in an after school programs and getting in touch with their creative side in an art class.

Although we are extremely grateful for the support we receive, our wish is to grow the Every Kid Counts  program and offer the services to even more than the 110 children annually that currently participate. Every Kid Counts is striving to ensure accessible recreation for all children and youth.  We regularly have to decline or defer requests to this popular and much loved program due its popularity versus the available funds.
