Springtide Resources

We are so close. We need you. Springtide Resources’ highly impactful Family Matters project was recently awarded a grant from the Laidlaw Foundation which brings us one step closer to offering this program to marginalized youth for a second year. But we need your help in raising the additional $20,000 needed. The Family Matters project is a creative-expression and skills-building workshop series for 2sLGBTQQI (two-spirited, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, and intersex) youth who are struggling with experiences of homophobia and transphobia in their families of origin. This project is a response to the alarming number of stories of abuse, estrangement, abandonment, shunning, and shaming told to us by our Youth Program participants and volunteers. “As queer and trans people we face physical, verbal, and emotional abuse from our families and communities. We need safe spaces where we can come together to unpack past traumas and transform our lives.” – program participant Connected to projects like Family Matters, young people access resources, training, and supportive friendships that foster resiliency and self-worth. Our youth need this in a world where they hear messages and face violence that tells them that they are not worthy of love, family, or a future. We need your help in supporting and transforming the lives of young people facing discrimination and harm in the intimate contexts of their families.
