Theatre Gargantua

Your donation helps dedicated artists create original theatre that is beautiful to see, hear and remember. You help create performance that speaks to relevant issues and that uses innovative techniques that keep the experience of live theatre live unique among art and entertainment. You help make inspiring theatre and training opportunities accessible to young people, engaging a new generation of artists and audiences in critical and creative thinking.

  1. The creation of original, compelling Canadian work, exploring socially relevant themes through dynamic theatricality that engages our broad and diverse audience
  2. Youth programming including partially subsidized high school matinees, and in school workshops
  3. Opportunities for emerging artists lead by Jacquie P.A Thomas who received the prestigious George Luscombe Mentorship award this year. These programs include:
-Emerging artist roundtable: a free forum for emerging artists to engage with members of the professional community and help bridge formal training with entering the profession.

-Producing internships: Paid producing interns learn fundamental skills for success in the cultural sector that are under taught in many theatre training programs.

-Artistic Internships: Paid artistic interns expand their skills and experience through observing and participating in the creation of an original professional theatre production.

“There are few opportunities to engage so deeply with a professional theatre company… I will be forever grateful to Theatre Gargantua for welcoming me into the Toronto theatre community and encouraging me to find my place and voice within it.”  - Madeline Brown, past artistic intern
