Windsor Residence for Young Men

Serving Windsor and Essex County, Ontario, the Windsor Residence for Young Men is asking people of goodwill for their generosity in helping to end homelessness for young men aged 16-24 years. It costs, on average, $1,000 a day to run our transitional living program for “our guys.”

Our goal for #GivingTuesdayCA is to raise $10,000. That's ten days of programming, making an effective difference in the lives and futures of these young men. Please take a moment out of your busy day to make a donation.

To make the #GivingTuesdayCA Campaign even more interesting, anyone who donates $25 or more is eligible for a great draw for an evening in a Red Wings Suite at Little Caesars Arena, Detroit.  It includes 6 tickets for the NHL hockey game between the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 and a parking pass. Food and beverages can be ordered from an ensuite menu or bought in the concourse, but their cost is not part of the package.

This great prize, worth approximately $1,800 US, has been provided by an anonymous donor who says,

"I just want to help out in any small way that I can for a fantastic program!"

WRYM promised to help 40 residents per year when we first opened our doors, but we have surpassed that by averaging 54 admissions per year.

~ 37% of our residents return to extended family
~ 43% are established in independent living appropriate to their needs
~ 60% stay in or return to school
~ 19% find employment while with us

WRYM provides a supportive functional family, often the only family “our guys” have ever known — with a staff of women and men in the roles of aunts, uncles or older siblings who deliver individual counselling and teach basic life skills.
