Alberta Museums Association

Help museums do more this Giving Tuesday.

This year, while museums across Alberta work with their communities to create programs that give back and promote social and environmental awareness, the Alberta Museums Association is participating in Giving Tuesday to raise awareness and support for the Robert R. Janes Award for Social Responsibility,an annual award that recognizes, supports, and furthers the work of museums that are solving community issues and promoting health and well-being. The Award was made possible through an initial donation from Dr. Janes, who continues to provide funding, and relies on additional community funding to continue directly supporting museums that are true contributors to the social, cultural, and educational fabric of Alberta.

Recipients of the Robert R. Janes Award for Social Responsibility receive $3,000 to investigate their drivers for success, scale up their activities, and host a workshop designed to model their lessons and successes for other institutions.

Let’s scale up the socially responsible work that museums do!

The ways you can support our Giving Tuesday campaign include:

1.    Post an ‘UNselfie’ on your social media accounts. To take an unselfie, all you have to do is write on one of the AMA Giving Tuesday unselfie posters (one for donors and one for supporters), and take a picture to post on your social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.). Please link to the AMA’s campaign with the following hashtags: #UNselfie #GivingTuesdayCa #MuseumsDoMore

2.    Share the AMA’s Giving Tuesday campaign with your community and network. You can do this by sharing the link to the campaign website: .

3.    Support the Robert R. Janes Award for Social Responsibility and help recipients scale up their work and model best practices to their peers, thereby increasing the capacity for the Alberta museum community to effect real social and environmental change in the lives of others. DONATE NOW!
