Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention

The Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention (Black CAP) has worked for 25 years to curb the HIV epidemic in Toronto's African, Caribbean and Black (ACB) communities. Every December 1st Black CAP participates in World AIDS Day. World AIDS Day is a global event that allows us to recognize that HIV/AIDS is still an ongoing and persistent issue both globally and in Canada. In fact, more than 60,000 people are living with HIV/AIDS in Canada at this time and many of those living with HIV require supports from agencies like ours. On Giving Tuesday we will be putting the call out to our community to consider an online donation to our agency and to our work. Every dollar raised that day will targeted to our Emergency Financial Assistance which helps our clients living with HIV and/or LGBTQ newcomers at moments of financial hardship. For instance, many people who receive EFA over the coming months are newcomers to Canada who will use the funds to buy a winter coat or winter boots.
