Child Care Council of Suffolk, Inc.

The Child Care Council of Suffolk, Inc. is the not-for-profit planning and coordinating agency dedicated to making child care work for all of Suffolk County's diverse communities. Through advocacy, education, and resource and referral, the Council takes a leadership role in supporting children, families, providers, employers, and the public to ensure that quality child care takes its place as an integral part of society. What we do: Resource & Referral - we link parents in need of child care with appropriate resources, including those with special needs and help them understand their options. Education and Technical Assistance - we assist in the development or expansion of child care centers and family child care homes and offer classes in infant, toddler, early childhood, and other related areas. Child/Adult Care Food Programs - We reimburse family child care home providers for food expenses and provide classes in nutritional meal preparation and meal planning for child care providers. Registration - we register and inspect family child care homes and school-age child care programs and provide technical assistance and ongoing monitoring of programs for compliance with state regulations. Parent Leadership Initiative - We offer an intensive, hands-on training program that empowers its participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to become a leader in their communities.
