Diefenbunker, Canada's Cold War Museum

During the unprecedented times, we’ve had many people ask to help. Thank you.

With help from our community, we’ve created one of the most unique museums in the country. For that, we also thank you.

Because of our donors, last year 3000 young people played and learned in our new Learning Lab. Immersive touch tables, fascinating artefacts, and a retrofitted vintage television (playing “duck and cover” videos) teach younger generations about growing up during the Cold War. Thank you for bringing history to life and for putting it into the hands of our future leaders!

Experiencing history together – that’s what the Diefenbunker is about, whether it is from home or underground at the museum.

Usually, this is our busiest time of the year. Our staff and volunteers would be educating young people about the realities of the Cold War through our award-winning educational workshops like Youth Conflict Resolution, guided tours, and special events. Our bunker halls would be filled with life with people of all ages taking part in our new program called Dash for Survival, where participants jump into team-building activities using clues and artefacts to explore the entire museum, our very own Cold War Amazing Race. Sadly, all that has come to a grinding halt, so we have been rethinking how we can bring the museum to you and what our museum will look like on your next visit.

For Giving Tuesday Now, we invite you to invest in the future of the museum. Your support will enable us to have a physical presence once we reopen and to create a digital presence beyond our bunker walls. We are driven to find the good in all of this. We will break down barriers and reach entirely new audiences. We can’t do this without your support.

We depend on visitors for 75% of our operating revenue – something that we usually boast about because our visitors keep our blast doors open. As you can imagine, without those visitors, we’re facing challenging times.

There are many easy ways that you can help so we can continue to teach, inform, and inspire you through lessons learned from the Cold War.

Our goal is to raise $20,000 and we can’t do it without your help.

Together, let’s change the way we teach, inform, and inspire Canadians through lessons from the Cold War.

Would you be willing to make a Giving Tuesday Now donation for $25, $50, or $100 to support our future?

With your gift, we will preserve this significant part of our Canadian history, reach new audiences, and create a new generation of life-long learners and future leaders.

Thank you!
