Doane House Hospice

Our goal is to raise $10,000 through Giving Tuesday to support our Oasis Wellness Program, which is offered to individuals coping with a life limiting illness.
Individuals coping with a life limiting illness often experience feelings of loneliness and powerlessness, anxiety, stress, insomnia, emotional instability and depression, which impacts all aspects of their lives and the lives of their families, friends and caregivers.
The Oasis Wellness Program provides a weekly, four hour “refuge from the world” in a safe environment for social interaction, companionship and activities that illness can often restrict.  The program is customized to the interests of the participants and may include massage therapy, reiki, yoga, journaling, speakers and painting.  Also included as part of the program, is a nutritious and delicious hot lunch, donated by local restaurants.
The benefits of the Oasis Wellness Program include empowerment, the easing of stress, the reduction of anxiety, the overcoming of insomnia and the promotion of emotional stability.
Doane House Hospice is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing quality of life, through the provision of non-medical support for those affected by or caring for an individual with a life limiting condition and grief and bereavement support for those dealing with the loss of a loved one.  In 2015, with a dedicated team of over 115 volunteers, donating 14,000 volunteer hours, Doane House Hospice helped over 532 individuals with a life limiting condition and impacted the lives of over 2,700 individuals, which included the families, caregivers and friends of individuals with a life limiting condition.
It is our vision that volunteer hospice care be accessible to all individuals in our community without financial barriers.  Individuals battling a life limiting condition often experience a loss of income and/or increased expenses during their journey.  As such, all of our support and services are offered free of charge.  Doane House Hospice relies heavily on the community to fund 75% of its operating budget, which equates to approximately $180,000 annually.
