Earthroots Fund

Please give as generously as you can to support our steadfast campaigns to protect Ontario's wilderness, wildlife and watersheds.

After 200 years of logging, the last wild stands of these unique forests are now only found in a few places like the Temagami and Wolf Lake regions of northern Ontario. With less than 1% of these original pine forests remaining, they are a critically endangered ecosystem.

Wolf Lake continues to be explored for minerals despite a government promise to fully protect the area almost 20 years ago, and Temagami is being logged as you read this. It's time to permanently protect these forests before they are lost forever.

Adopt a wolf pup, pack or pair, and help protect Algonquin wolves in the wild. The Algonquin wolf is the only Threatened species that can still be legally hunted and trapped in Ontario, despite these very activities being the main threat to its recovery.

Your contribution will support our research in the field through the Ontario Wolf Survey, a citizen science project that is vital to identifying Algonquin wolf habitat (see video above). With a mere 500 (or less) of these wolves remaining, they require full protection across their entire range.

The Greenbelt protects over 2 million acres of wetlands, forests and farmlands, providing fresh water, clean air and local food for Ontarians. Earthroots continues to work with our partners at Save the Oak Ridges Moraine (STORM), Ontario Nature and EcoSpark, to advocate for increased protection of our still vulnerable water resources through an expanded Bluebelt.

Such protection is vital to community health and resilience in the face of climate change. With flooding, drought and extreme weather events increasing in frequency and intensity, we simply cannot afford to pave over those landscape features which store, filter and supply our water.

For over 30 years Earthroots has been protecting Ontario's wilderness, wildlife and watersheds by combining powerful grassroots campaigns with effective research and educational programs. Our organization acts on behalf of 12,000 supporters across the country and we empower thousands of Canadians each year to advocate for better environmental protection in their own communities.

None of our important work would ever be possible without the support of people like you. Please join us!

For the wild,

The Earthroots Team
