Friends of the Rouge Watershed

FRW encourages youth & community members to get active in creating healthy watersheds, ecosystems and communities! FRW collaborates with schools, community and faith groups, businesses, government agencies, foundations, corporations and other partners to:
1.  Encourage an ecosystem, watershed and community approach to environmental protection;
2.  Promote environmental awareness, education, ethics and action;
3.  Train youth and community volunteers to improve watershed, ecosystem & community health;
4.  Monitor and communicate key indicators of watershed, ecosystem, park & community health;
Over the last 23 years, FRW has coordinated and educated over 53,500 youth and community volunteers and planted 675,000 native trees, shrubs and wildflowers to restore 3 km2 of public park lands. We have also worked to create a Rouge National Park to protect and improve watershed and ecosystem health.
FRW protects and improves watershed, ecosystem and community health by planting and nurturing the seeds of watershed and ecosystem stewardship in the hearts and minds of volunteers in the culturally diverse communities of the northeastern GTA.
