Giving Tuesday Waterloo Region

Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region

This year, like no other, we are grateful for our health and well-being, but also for the warmth, comfort and safety of our homes – a comfort and safety that Amanda and her children are excitedly anticipating as they prepare to move into their new Habitat home!  Although COVID has delayed Amanda’s family’s move-in date, she looks forward to her move every day while planning bedrooms and purchasing kitchen items.

“Habitat for Humanity has given me an opportunity I would not have had otherwise.  Homeownership is now accessible to me.  I’ve been given hope.  I feel like my life is headed in the right direction.” Amanda says.

A Habitat for Humanity home is a strong foundation for a family to build a better life. Strong and stable homes help build strong and stable communities. Better, affordable living conditions lead to improved health and stronger childhood development. The financial stability that comes from affordable mortgage payments means families can start making plans for the future.

As Amanda and her children make their plans, Amanda continues to volunteer on the build site even though she has already completed her volunteer hours. “Being able to contribute to the building of my own home makes me feel connected to the process.  It is a valuable learning experience for me and ties me to my neighbours and the community.”

COVID may have slowed us down, but our work is still important because families like Amanda’s are counting on us…and you!  Your donation will ensure that Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region has the capacity to continue to build safe and affordable homes in our community.

As we are all looking forward to the day when we are again able to gather together with friends and family for the holiday season, Amanda and families like hers are dreaming about holidays to come in their forever home.  Your gift makes families’ dreams come true!  Please consider making a profound difference in so many lives by supporting Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region today!
