Inspiring girls to embrace STEM careers.

hEr VOLUTION is a non-profit organization created to focus on developing opportunities for underserved communities by delivering innovative STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) initiatives since its incorporation in 2013. For the past five years, we have partnered with some of the best innovators and professionals to deliver these initiatives from learning about the basics in science, technology, engineering, and math sector to providing a once in a lifetime opportunity of being introduced to globally recognized technology companies. Through our work at hEr VOLUTION students have been given unique opportunities that have opened doors and interest in young people from the GTA’s most underserved communities. These students have transformed their STEM fears and are now seeking to learn more about science and technology.

Thus far, we have worked with well over 30 acclaimed community partners. hEr VOLUTION has also been funded by some of the most distinguished companies in North America such as Salesforce, Shopify, Citrix Canada, Checkout 51, Index Exchange, OACETT, Alexio Corporation, and SWE Durham. We have received grants from Salesforce Foundation, Trillium Foundation, Leacross Foundation and have also received donations from Armenian Relief Society and supporters like you.

Your support helps us deliver our innovative science and technology-based programming to youth 7 to 29 years old impacting over 3,000 underserved youth so far.

In 2018 alone, hEr VOLUTION has been awarded Top 75 STEM Blogs and has been awarded the “Advancing Young Canadian Women in Technology” award at the Impact AI conference in Ottawa held by Mindbridge AI for amazing work in mobilizing STEM education forward for young women across Canada. The most important achievement of all in 2018 was, with the help of our partners, we were able to hand in 70 laptops to take home to underserved youth who attended our programs this summer.

hEr VOLUTION founder Doina Oncel is considered a thought leader in the areas of STEM literacy and advocacy with a special focus of introducing STEM-based learning to underserved youth. She is a strong believer that in order to close the gender gap in STEM we need to break down barriers to make ways for bright minds to access to STEM-based education despite their socioeconomic status. Doina has recently been nominated by her peers at George Brown College where she is an Alumni for the 2018 Premier’s Awards in recognition of the important economic and social contribution she has made to Ontario through her work at hEr VOLUTION.

Please note: our organization cannot give a tax purpose receipt for donations, however, you will know that your contribution will go a long way in helping us support diverse young women to get into STEM.
