Human Resource and Social Information Centre (HURESIC)

The School Child Support Programme was initiated in 2004 after conducting a baseline survey on orphans and vulnerable children. The programme is implemented in five centres covering 5 communities,namely, Mariveni, Dan, Mohlaba-Cross, Mokgoloboto and Xihoko. Children are drawn from five schools and one centre i.e. Mariveni primary, Xirhurhulu primary, Margreth Shilivana primary , Sebone primary and Mavumbha (Dan) Thirteen (13) child care workers volunteers are appointed to render the prescribed services for five working days a week. Each centre has its own Group leader under the supervision of a project manager. The service package rendered in the different centres includes the following:- • Food distribution, Academic support, Life skills, Health promotion, Sports and cultural activities • Provide clothes and school uniform, Computer literacy • Assist children to access government service e.g. Social grant, official documents Sports and cultural activities are implemented with the aim of removing children and youth from street and engaging in unethical behavior. The organization has established three sporting code namely, soccer, volleyball and netball. The cultural group performs different traditional dances such as Xincayincayi, Mukhinyavezo, Kuthawuza. Committees were established in all sporting codes and cultural group to assist in the implementation process of this programme. They also received necessary resources which benefit 776 children benefited
