Journalists for Human Rights

You've heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. On November 28th join JHR in celebrating #Giving Tuesday. On this one day, our community comes together to give back to organizations striving to create a better world for us all.

JHR works worldwide to empower journalists to cover human rights stories objectively and effectively. This year, our goal is to Give Youth A Voice. And we need your help. We're raising awareness and funds to empower young people in Canada and around the world to speak up, tell their stories and have their voices heard.

With support from JHR's Indigenous Reporters Program, Leslie Spence from Webequie First Nation set up a youth radio programme.

"Through this program, I’ve learned how to run a youth radio show. I know how to put together news bulletins, and put news on social media. And to have a voice. I’m able to empower other people, to be able to do stuff than do the same things over and over. I was able to learn how to build news bulletins, learn how to operate the radio show, and gain confidence, to talk about youth related issues around our community."

"People should care about this program because it puts a whole different perspective on First Nations in a positive way. It puts a positive perspective on First Nations. And to empower the youth to be heard."

We're asking you to join in the spirit of this international day of giving and make a donation on November 28, 2017. Any amount will help. For $25, $50, $100, $500 - you can be part of this powerful movement for change.

Ask your family and friends to join us - and help us help young people find their voice, their vocation - and make a real difference to their lives.
