Jusoor Canada

Jusoor Canada strives to engage, connect and assist in educational development of Syrian newcomer community. Jusoor Canada will focus on its goals to support its new initiative: “100 Syrian Women, 10,000 Syrian Lives”, which aims to support 100 Syrian women by providing them with an opportunity to study at universities and colleges in Canada.

The need-based scholarship will be for both undergraduate and graduate students. The Syrian youth will also benefit from career development and leadership workshops, as well as a vast network of mentors. Jusoor’s role, to assist newcomer Syrian women in their educational development, will include the following:

Enrollment Support: Applicants will be supported in the university application process, which includes identifying institutions, facilitating information on academic choices, and exploring careers which are in demand as per labour market opinions and studies.

Scholarships: The funding will contribute to tuition, living expenses, travel, and fees related to university applications and required tests. Syrian women who are selected to the final application round will be asked to fill in a financial assessment form in order to determine financial need.

Mentorship Support: Syrian students will be connected with volunteers who will provide them with support and mentorship throughout their academic lives. Students and mentors are matched based on the student’s region of interest, desired field of study, and the specific university in which the student aims to enroll.

Career Workshops: The program will introduce beneficiaries to Jusoor’s resources and provide them with an overview of job search processes and equip them with strategies for a successful application process.
