Our Food Hub is Little Mountain Neighbourhood House Society’s response to our community’s emergency food needs. Weekly, we feed 71 families serving 205 people & have 52 families on our waitlist.  We provide healthy, locally grown and sourced produce and other foods in a dignified manner.  We need your support to help us meet people where they are at and to create equitable and just food access. In Our Food Hub, we are growing our food and feeding our community. Our activities include:

Growing Our Food
  • We grow food in our Yard Garden Harvests, the Riley Park Community Garden and in partnership with the UBC Farm Practicum Program.
  • Our programs and partnerships teach our community how to grow their own food and connect us to our neighbours.

Feeding our Community
  •  We distribute food to over 71 families each week in our Food Distribution program feeding on average 205 people (Nov. 6, 2021 with numbers increasing). Food is sourced from our Growing Our Food projects plus the Greater Vancouver Food Bank; food redistributors of Food Runners & Food Stash, our neighbourhood grocer East West Market, the Riley Park Farmers Market and our neighbours garden surplus.
  • We now deliver quarterly, but need to deliver, a monthly hamper and meal to 75 vulnerable seniors a hot meal and food hamper.
  • Last year, we mailed gift cards to 110 vulnerable families and have previously delivered hampers to them. We will continue to mail the gift cards and refer families to come to our food distribution program.

We are asking for funds and community support that includes volunteering and donating yards to grow food.

We meet people where they are at and work with them toward the changes they want to make.  We aim to reduce food insecurity in our community, and to provide dignified food access for all in a just, equitable way.
