Lung Cancer Canada

Lung Cancer Canada (LCC) is the only charity whose sole mission is to raise awareness, provide patient focused information and offer peer support free of charge to patients and caregivers anywhere in Canada.

  • It is estimated that over 26,000 Canadians will be diagnosed with lung cancer in 2014.
  • Lung cancer takes the lives of more Canadians than breast, prostate, and colorectal cancers combined.
  • More than 1 out of every 4 cancer deaths in Canada is from lung cancer.
And yet, lung cancer research only receives 7% of government funding, and less than 1% of private donations. For us to properly fight this disease, more needs to be done to educate and reduce the stigma surrounding lung cancer.

All funds generated during GivingTuesday will go towards helping us pay for a new printing of our recent report, The Faces of Lung Cancer: Fighting Disease, Fighting Disparity. This report addresses five key priorities based on research from Canada’s leading specialists as well as the patient community, including:

  1. The importance of screening
  2. Stigma
  3. The incredible toll on the Canadian population
  4. The status of current research, and
  5. Access to diagnosis and treatment

The goal of this report is to raise awareness of those fighting lung cancer, and to help push forward a national dialogue on the state of this devastating disease in our country.

Please join us in the fight against lung cancer.
