North Vancouver City Library

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. It is an educational approach encouraging inquiry, dialogue, critical thinking and problem solving. Children of all ages (and those who are young at heart) engaged in STEAM take thoughtful risks participate in experiential learning and embrace collaboration.

Careers in STEAM are growing. STEAM programs help children develop valuable skills like problem solving and critical thinking. They also help stimulate creativity and curiosity. These skills are valuable for people throughout their lives, education and careers. Best of all, STEAM is FUN! At NVCL, STEAM programming is free and accessible for our economically diverse community.

Public libraries are also in the unique position to be able to offer programs that include both children and their caregivers, helping to integrate STEAM learning into families. These programs are in high-demand. Your support for STEAM programming will ensure that we are offering relevant, modern learning opportunities that allow children from a myriad of backgrounds access to a STEAM education.
