Pet Therapy Society of Northern Alberta

The Pet Therapy Society of Northern Alberta (PeTS) is a registered not-for-profit charitable organization. Our programs depend on the energy and commitment of our dedicated volunteers who believe in the therapeutic value of companion animals and the human-animal bond. Our programs and services include:  PAWS for a Visit: Following extensive training, certified PeTS therapy teams visit hospitals, palliative care centres, seniors’ residences, schools, and correctional facilities.  PAWS for a Story: Incorporating certified therapy pets, our reading program helps to improve the literary aptitude of children who have poor reading skills or lack self confidence in their reading ability.  PAWSabilities: With the assistance of certified therapy pets, as well as arts, crafts, games, and music, this program aims to enhance physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of each client.  PAWS to Remember: Support and services for individuals having difficulty coping with the death of a pet. Confidential telephone support and monthly support meetings are available.
