Safe Food Matters Inc.

It's Giving Tuesday, and in the coming weeks we will be sharing a summary of our arguments in Safe Food Matters’ legal case against Health Canada (HC) over GLYPHOSATE (the main ingredient in Roundup weed killer and the subject of numerous cancer lawsuits in the United States).

Our case against HC will be held in early 2020, and it is about their 2017 re-registering of glyphosate for spraying directly onto Canadian food crops. HC renewed the licence for this use (and all uses) until at least 2032.

In the process of re-registration, we showed HC that the chemical accumulates in cereals (wheat, bran, etc.) and legumes (chickpeas, lentils, etc.) and that the model that HC uses for dietary safety is flawed. We also showed HC that the directions for spraying glyphosate are not followed, nor enforced.

Safe Food Matters believes that HC rubber stamped glyphosate use for another 15-20 years without looking into any of these issues!

We THANK YOU in advance for helping us in this cause that directly impacts the health and wellness of eaters of food from Canada. —Our aim is to bring to light the faulty risk assessment regime of HC, with the goal of improving federal laws so that they ensure the safety of our food for all.
