St. John's Status of Women Council/Women's Centre

The St. John's Status of Women Council (SJSWC) is a feminist organization that since 1972 is continually working to achieve equality and justice through political activism, community collaboration and the creation of a safe and inclusive space for all women in the St. John's area.

SJSWC operates the St. John’s Women’s Centre, Marguerite’s Place Supportive Housing, and the Safe Harbour Outreach Project (SHOP) and is excited to be a GivingTuesday partner again this year.

Want to give back to your community on GivingTuesday? Here are some ways to help the SJSWC!

Support our empowerment groups for women who have experienced domestic violence. Donate any dollar amount to the St. John's Women's Centre by clicking the 'Donate Now' button on the bottom of this page.

Drop off donations of women’s clothing or personal care items at the St. John’s Women’s Centre – our Clothing Boutique and Personal Care Pantry provides items to women free of charge – and serves more than 50 women each month. Donations can be dropped off at the Centre (170 Cashin Avenue Extension), Monday-Friday from 8:30-4:30. Don’t forget to take an #unselfie of yourself and your donation when you drop them off and post them to social media! Tag us on Twitter or Instagram @SJSOWC.
