The Saul & Claribel Simkin Centre

This year we are raising money in support of Complimentary Therapies like Music Therapy at the Saul & Claribel Simkin Centre. Ninety percent of residents at the Simkin Centre suffer from a dementia related illness and many have barriers to mobility or communication. By participating in Complimentary Therapies residents are able to increase their enjoyment of life, communicate more clearly, and benefit from social interaction.

Our goal is to raise $7,000 toward the purchase of ipods, ipads, headphones, and speakers in order to provide residents with music that is tailored to their interests and needs. These tools can then be used by family and staff. We are also working to raise money for more sessions with music and art therapists. $60 purchases one art or music therapy session for a resident, $250 supports the purchase of one ipod plus accessories, and $750 supports the purchase of on ipad plus accessories.

A donation on December 1st will help residents by restoring memory, improving social interactions, reducing pain, and providing additional caring support for our elders.
