Charity Description
United Way Halton & Hamilton is committed to leading measurable, impactful change by identifying the most challenging issues in our community, and bringing together people and resources to address those issues. We connect volunteers with local needs, and offer training and operational support to local charities. Along with our network of partners and experts, United Way Halton & Hamilton conducts research and works with government, labour and key stakeholders to generate support for the not-for-profit sector.  United Way Halton & Hamilton supported approximately 212,000 residents across the region through 153 programs and 82 agencies that provide life changing services.
Outside of government, United Way is the largest funder of social service programs and initiatives in Canada.
Charity Programs
All That Kids Can Be: United Way invests in programs that lay the foundation for lifelong success. These initiatives, which address goals from early literacy to leadership development, give our youngest citizens the experiences, skills and inspiration they need to become engaged and productive adults.
Healthy People, Strong Communities: United Way funds programs that provide everything from recreation to parenting supports with the goal of helping people build skills for independent living, manage mental health and medical issues, and provide opportunities to be part of a connected and caring community.
Poverty to Possibility: United Way works on multiple fronts to break the cycle of poverty. Our investments help individuals and families in crisis access basic needs like food and shelter, while also helping them develop knowledge and opportunities to increase their long-term stability.
Charity Volunteering
Days of Caring: United Way Halton and Hamilton offers a three-tier employee engagement program, called Days of Caring, bringing together local companies and funded agencies to take part in unique, full day or half day workshops where employees learn about the services offered at the agency, and participate in fun activities.
