We spoke to Indspire, a national Indigenous registered charity that invests in the education of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people for the long term benefit of them, their families and communities, and Canada, about the success of their GivingTuesdayNow campaign. Here is what they shared:
“We participate in GivingTuesday because we want to share the impact donations to Indspire can have in supporting Indigenous education and students. GivingTuesday gives us the opportunity to share positive stories and truly highlights the difference each donor makes when they support our organization. It’s also a great way to showcase different programs and projects which may generate supporter interest in making larger gifts to those offerings.”
Background
Indspire is a national Indigenous registered charity that invests in the education of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people for the long term benefit of them, their families and communities, and Canada.
Their vision is to enrich Canada through Indigenous education and by inspiring achievement. In partnership with Indigenous, private and public sector stakeholders, Indspire educates, connects and invests in First Nations, Inuit and Métis people so they will achieve their highest potential.
The Goal
For their GivingTuesdayNow campaign, Indspire set a goal to raise $60,000 with the generous support of a match from their board of directors.
GivingTuesdayNow Campaign
They sent a series of emails to donors highlighting a generous match from their board of directors. They highlighted the additional needs that Indigenous students were experiencing as a result of the pandemic, and shared how Indspire was attempting to support them during these difficult times.
They also made sure to highlight on social media platforms and saw great engagement with their posts.
The Result
They surpassed their target and raised $76,534, a healthy $16,000 over the original goal of $60,000!
Their advice to other organizations
“We think it’s important to engage close supporters, like the board or other volunteers in your plans for GivingTuesday. Matching is a great way to help drive donation results, but it is more important to ensure that you authentically use the voices of the people you are serving. Lastly, we think it’s important to change things up from year to year, so donors are excited about each new campaign.”
